Stop the war - buy the single!
December 2006
Bush and Blair's illegal war is top of the political agenda. Now you can make our anti-war song number one in the singles charts!
With Tony out of a job and Gordon replacing him the former PM has reformed his college band Ugly Rumours for one last crack at rock stardom. The Rumours – or Uglies, if you prefer - re-recorded the old Edwin Starr classic 'War (what is it good for?)'. The plan is to take the song to the top of the singles chart in the first week of January entirely through downloads. From January 1 download-only singles are eligible for chart placing in the official Top 40.
The track will cost 79p a download and 20p of that goes to the Stop the War Coalition to help in its campaigns against the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. An ideal Christmas or new year gift as well and a great record to boot (into Blair!).
I took part in the video to promote it. I play a police officer and Blair's sister-in-law Lauren Booth is a WPC. Watch out for it when it’s available - you’ll see Blair finally getting what he deserves!
Two million of us marched against the war, if only a small number of us buy the download not only will it benefit the campaign against the war it will be a hugely embarrassing musical referendum on Blair.
You can play the track below. But you can only order and download through an official chart download site. The button below will take you there.
Bye for now, pop pickers!
